Long synopsis

March 23, 2002. Israelis and Palestinians at war. Diplomacy deadlocked. Violence escalating. In search of first-hand perspectives, a European documentary crew under film director Oliver Stone goes into the heart of the conflict: Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Ramallah, capital of the Palestinian Authority.

For five days, the filmmakers explore the streets where people try to carry on normal lives, and meet with the leaders from both sides who decide their fate“Former Israeli Prime Ministers Shimon Peres, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Ehud Barak; European diplomats Miguel Moratinos and Christian Jeuret; a Hamas spokesman, and a group of masked fighters from the Al Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade. But as the crew struggles to reach Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, they find themselves face-to-face with the bloody reality of this troubled region: a Palestinian suicide bomber kills 20 Israelis at the Passover Massacre; the Israeli military retaliation closes the streets of Ramallah and destroys Arafat’s compound.

Without losing sight of the hope for a peaceful solution, Persona Non Grata offers a personalized glimpse into one of today’s most tangled and confusing conflicts.
